Ron Hatch has been drawing since he was old enough to hold a pencil. Grade school saw a few attempts with
oil painting, but in high school and the discovery of acrylic paints he started to hit his stride. Self-taught for the most part,
his artwork soon merged with his love of trains. One of his first jobs was as an illustrator for Burlington Northern's Safety &
Rules Division at the St. Paul home office.
He has also been employed as a residential design/drafter, graphic
designer, free-lance commercial illustrator and industrial designer. Through it all he has alway pursued his interest in railroads,
having had several of his works published in magazines and books. Also a modeller, he has had articles published
in the model press.
One of his delights is being involved with the
Galesburg, IL Railroad Days festival.
For over 20 years he has created artwork for the poster for this event, many of which have become collector's items.
Ron has very few prints: the majority of his work has been commissions going directly to collectors. Prints of a few of these have
been produced by the customer.
